Crochet Moon Rattle Pattern

Pattern Notes-

· This pattern is in US terminology.

· Chain 1 doesn’t count as a stitch.

· Worked in rows unless stated otherwise.

Abbreviations-

· Ch = Chain

· MR = Magic Ring

· St(s) = Stitch(es)

· Sc = Single Crochet (UK = Double Crochet)

· Dc = Double Crochet (UK = Treble Crochet)

· Inc = Increase | Crochet two into same st

Materials-

· Aran (10 ply/worsted weight) Cotton Yarn in any colour of your choice.

· I used Cascade Yarns, Nifty Cotton Splash in colour Hydrangea (206).

· 3.5mm Crochet Hook

· Scissors

· Yarn Needle

· 22mm Rattle Insert (optional) Size of rattle insert is not important, size is just suggested as this is the size I use.

· Stuffing

You are more than welcome to use any yarn and hook size as gauge is not important. Do remember to use a smaller hook than suggested for the yarn to make tighter stitches.

Moon (make 2)-

Using colour of your choice:

Row 1: MR. 5 sc into centre of ring. (5 sts)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Inc, sc, inc, sc, inc (8 sts)

Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Inc, 2 sc, [inc] 2 times, 2 sc, inc (12 sts)

Row 4: Ch 1, turn. Inc, 4 sc, [inc] 2 times, 4 sc, inc (16 sts)

Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Inc, 6 sc, [inc] 2 times, 6 sc, inc (20 sts)

Row 6: Ch 1, turn. Inc, 3 sc, inc, 4 sc, [inc] 2 times, 4 sc, inc, 3 sc, inc (26 sts)

Row 7: Ch 1, turn. Inc, 4 sc, inc, 4 sc, inc, 4 sc, inc, 4 sc, inc, 4 sc, inc (32 sts)

Row 8: Ch 1, turn. Inc, 5 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc, 5 sc, inc, 6 sc, inc (38 sts)

Row 9: Ch 1, turn. Inc, 7 sc, inc, [6 sc, inc] 3 times, 7 sc, inc (44 sts)

Fasten off for the first moon. Do not fasten off for the second.

You can weave in ends from the first moon, if you wish.

Assembly-

Place the moon pieces together.

Sc both sides together.

Sc around the outer edge first and then continue to sc the inner edge,

Before you reach the end, stuff the moon and insert rattle.

Sl st to first sc made. Weave in ends.

You are now finished!
