Crochet Pumpkin Trick or Treat Bag

This pumpkin is the perfect trick or treat bag for anyone!
Notes-
· This bag measures approximately 6 inches in width and 5 inches in height. Strap length is 9.5 inches.
· This pattern is in US terminology.
· This pattern uses both single and double strands of yarn.
· Chain 2 doesn’t count as a stitch.
Abbreviations-
· Ch = Chain
· MR = Magic Ring
· St(s) = Stitch(es)
· [ ] = Repeat for stated number of times
· Sc = Single Crochet (UK = Double Crochet)
· Hdc = Half Double Crochet (UK = Half Treble Crochet)
· Dc = Double Crochet (UK = Treble Crochet)
· FPDC = Front Post Double Crochet (UK = Front Post Treble Crochet)
· BLO = Back Loop Only
· Inc = Increase | Crochet two into same st
· Dec = Decrease | Crochet two sts together
Materials-
· DK (8 ply/light worsted weight) Yarn in Orange, Brown and Green
I used Stylecraft Special DK in Jaffa. Paintbox Simply DK in Coffee Bean and Grass Green.
· 5.5mm (I/9) Crochet Hook
· 3.5mm (E/4) Crochet Hook
· Scissors
· Yarn Needle
· Stitch Marker | Scrap of yarn

Bag-
This pattern uses two strands of DK yarn. You can do this by using the middle and outside strands of one ball or use two balls of yarn.
This is worked in continuous rounds unless stated otherwise.
Using orange yarn (double strand) and 5.5mm crochet hook.
Row 1: MR. 6 sc into centre of ring. (6 sts)
Row 2: [Inc] 6 times (12 sts)
Row 3: [Sc, inc] 6 times (18 sts)
Row 4: [2 sc, inc] 6 times (24 sts)
Row 5: [3 sc, inc] 6 times (30 sts)
Row 6: [4 sc, inc] 6 times (36 sts)
Row 7: [5 sc, inc] 6 times (42 sts)
Row 8: [6 sc, inc] 6 times (48 sts)
Row 9: [7 sc, inc] 6 times (54 sts)
Row 10: [8 sc, inc] 6 times (60 sts)
Row 11: 60 BLO sc (60 sts)
Stop here, do not fasten off. Weave in yarn ends for MR. Now continue to make the rest of the bag.
From now on, sl st to join at the end of each row.
Sl st to join.
Row 12: Ch 2, dc into same st, 59 dc. Sl st to top of ch 2 to join. (60 sts)
Row 13: Ch 2, 4 dc [2 FPDC, 8 dc] repeat 5 times. 2 FPDC, 4 dc. Sl st (60 sts)
Rows 14-16: Repeat Row 13. (60 sts)
Row 17: Ch 2. [dec, 2 dc, 2 FPDC, 4 dc] repeat 6 times. Sl st (54 sts)
Row 18: Ch 2. [3 dc, 2 FPDC, 2 dc, dec] repeat 6 times. Sl st. (48 sts)
Row 19: Ch 2. [dec, dc, 2 FPDC, 3 dc] repeat 6 times. Sl st. (42 sts)
Change to brown yarn (double strand)
Row 20: Ch 2. [2 dc, 2 FPDC, dc, dec] repeat 6 times. Sl st (36 sts)
Row 21: Ch 1. 36 sc. Sl st. (36 sts)
Do not fasten off.
Strap-
Ch 25. Sc into 19th st of row 21.
Sc along the ch 25. Sl st to 1st st of row 21.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Leaves (make 2)-
Using green yarn (single strand) and 3.5mm crochet hook.
Ch 12,
Dc into 4th ch from hook. Dc into the next 2 sts.
Hdc into the next 3 sts. Sc into the next 2 sts.
Into the last st, sc, ch 2 and sc.
You will now crochet along the other side of the ch.
Sc into first st (where needle is placed on picture) and sc into the next st. Hdc into the next 3 sts. Dc into the last 3 sts.
Ch 2, sl st to the bottom of the first dc.
Fasten off, leaving long tail to sew.
Curl-
Using green yarn (single strand) and 3.5mm crochet hook
Ch 21.
2 sc into 2nd ch from hook. 2 sc into each st. (40 sts)
Fasten off and leave long tail to sew. Tie both ends together and use for sewing.
Attaching leaves and curl-
Attach the two leaves and the curl onto the top of the bag where the strap is attached.
You have now finished your Pumpkin ‘Trick or Treat’ Bag.
